hello there

This is my little participation in building a Lenco. I have previously built a Lenco L70 and a few Garrard 401.Nu I would try to build something that was different.

Plinth and tree on the platter is made of bamboo. In addition, I use the motor and the switch and the idler wheel the platter and the platter bearing.

Tone arm is made of copper and a golf club and two magnets attract each other. Notice that there is no counterweight.

Good luck and thanks for inspiration

Interesting use of magnets. I've not seen magnets used to replace a counterweight before - much more usual to see them damp the arm movement (see arm on my GL68) or to create the anti skating force.

Amazing! Always nice to see something completely different. Good job! This is also the first time I have felt scared looking at a Lenco! The arm is fantastic but frightening...Congratulations!

I like people who think different!

But, looking at the back end of that arm, I'm thinking that can't work properly.
Does the arm rotate or slide or swing on the copper bar?
Does it maintain proper VTF & azimuth across the record?

I wanna see a video of that contraption in action! shocked

Hello there
The tonearm is inspired by Schroeder's work. I have met 2 times and had some interesting conversations with him - he is really a gentleman - he loves people work further on his work instead of just copying.

Copper tube acts as a lift. Again, I would try something different. I have built Numerous tone arms out from this principle. When a tone arm is 18 inches long should the counterweight be 350 to 400 grams. This is too much. Therefore this solution. It is hell to regulate it in and it has cost me more than a pick up. Therefore, I start with a cheap shure pickup before I mount my Ortofon Rohmanne or similar

OK, a lift was my last thought & now I see the arm's suspended at the pillar.
Yea, I can imagine it's a bugger to set-up!
What's the silver bar doing? Is it resting on the top magnet?
Is the arm alu or carbon?

I have some spare fibre tent-poles & another dumb idea recently.

The silver bar is a plastic tube which has lead shot inside to eliminate resonances and armrører is doing a carbon fiber golf club

Awesome.  I love the whole thing!

That arm looks like some sort of early 1900's electrical experiment.   laugh   smiley
