Mentioned it several times before, but one have to be patient...
I've pm'd Peter for permission, to post something about it....
Only restriction was ....not to post deeper details about "how to build and any measurements" !!!
I thankfully accept that and my deepest thanks to Peter  icon_thumright hello2

Ok, it's been a while since i started to collect several things for the build....
Especially there had to be an arm.......

I decided to take a RB300 as the main arm...... (sorry for the bad shot....but you'll know that arm !!)

......rewired and waiting to be installed.....maybe a few improvements will be done....(counterweight ect.!!)

Possibly ...the Tesla arm will take it's place.....a light arm with quick response... (Peter also mounted it with an Accutex)

Here it is still originally mounted on my L450 (but i got another one...incomplete)

The Rega and the Tesla has nearly the same mounting distance 222/220 afaik.....
So it could be mounted in the same adjustable armplate......

The Micro Seiki (MA303)has a distance from 207mm afaik !!?? ....so therefore i'll make an extra board at the rear.....

Made some drawings measurings.......

A few shots from the building of the PTP-plate .....

*deleted for privacy*  cool

Still not ready........but "It's slowly taking shape...."  laugh

Next step is the selection between different kind of materials for the "plinth"
I have the "ordinary" plywood.....and a 20mm alu-plate.......somekind of synthetic material........
ooooh....we'll see.....  angel

I'll keep you updated......

 wink

So...these will be the planned ingredients for the plinth.......  grin

Top and bottom plate (maybe two layers in between above and underneath the black )
will be made out of transparent polished "Lexan" .......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexan
Datasheet...
http://catalog.ides.com/Datasheet.aspx?I=28365&U=1&E=31507

to slightly illuminate the plinth.........  angel

Black one is somekind of softer synthetic material.....

The wood is....Guess !!!  laugh

Next night i'll probably make the first cut....which is the deepest....  shocked  laugh

To be continued...................

Last night i cutted the main layers ......Top/bottom/middle...
You can see the marked points , where the MA303 (upper left) and the RB300 (right side) will be mounted....
See the cut out for the idler-arm slider ....a lil bit bigger..have some hidden plans with it ...  cheesy
Although....plan was/is to power the motor through an inverter.....but it's better to have a "Plan B" if somfin goes wrong  wink

A workmate's coming by and says... shocked....."That'll be a BIG job"  undecided .... i said.....YUP !! ....
We're just at the beginning.......  laugh

This night i'll cut the LEXAN-sheets and thinking about the "arm-boards" ....
I imagined to build them round and eccentric...to change the P/S distance if needed....but we'll see....

There'll be definitely more to come.........  wink

Hi Roger,
That's looking good  cool
Could you do me a favour and accurately measure the mounting distance of the tesla arm on your L450? I believe the 222mm stated somewhere is not right, but I have never had the chance to check it on an actual turntable.

Hi Peter..
Yes, it IS  STOP ....mm !!  moment.... Spindle is 7mm.....P/S is .... icon_scratch.....219,5 mmm !!!!!
Just like the "baerwald" suggested distance for the RB300 !!!  cheesy
Measured it once again......it is 219,5 !!!!!
Thanks for pointing me in that direction !!!

I'm really curious to hear the arm at the "clone" !!
At the 450 it is really a "lightfood" IYKWIM ....quick responds and agility....
But the plinth/electronics/underplatter ect of the 450 is a f*** sh**  laugh
Therefore i'll slaughter and dispose this one and implant the arm to the new deck....
Anyone interested in a L450 plinth !??  grin

But ..methinks...i've to enlarge the cutout at the idler wheel section...  undecided
We'll see.........
"This is the beginning of a great adventure...." .......or even a BIG "Baustelle"  laugh

Keep you updated......

PS: I still don't have or find a spare headshell for the Tesla..... angry
The day will come.......  azn

Peter, the instruction manual is on vinylengine.
It's in Czech but numbers and images are universal.

Mounting distance: 220mm +/-0.15
Eff. length: 235mm

Hi Wout !!

Measured it this morning THREE TIMES !!
And Peter is right with his assumption that 222mm is the wrong mounting distance !!
At my L 450 the distance is exactly 219,5 mm !!!!  wink

Want piccies ???   smiley

Here we go......
Looks a li bit amateurish, but i don't have three hands to hold the caliper (that i used yesterday)
and take the photos......

Pivot-center......

Point at the OUTSIDE of the spindle... 223mm !

Spindle is 7mm ..................

............so you have to subtract half of the diameter ....3,5mm

223-3,5 = 219,5 !! Et voila !

@Peter:
First i even trust the datas at vinylengine....thanks for the hint !!

@Wout: Forum says....you're the King and i'got to tell you 503 !!  !!??  shocked

Great Roger, thank you for doing the measurements. So we finally know now that it was originally mounted at 219.5mm.
It doesn't end there though...
I use one, and at first had it mounted at 222mm. It was impossible to align to Bearwald, I have it at 218mm now and that is still impossible to align without filing out the cart mounting slots in the headshell and twisting the cart in the headshell. I guess they used some "fantasy" alignment scheme.
The Acutex I use in it is very very sensitive to this and definitely didn't work properly in the original set up.

Hi Roger,
I believe you!
Like I said: the official Tesla P1101 instruction manual says 220mm (not 222mm) so I'd say the Lenco factory wasn't too far off.  laugh
Overhang 15mm +0.5
Offset angle: 22°

But Peter is right, it still doesn't add up. Closest with standard inner and outer groove radius is Stevenson.
Overhang: 15.55
Offset angle: 22.17°
