Hi everyone,

I have finally found some (time that is)
Actually I had to make some, and have managed to make a fair bit of progress on my Lenco  grin

I have been a member for a few months now since i bought my l75 off ebay and have been lurking on this great site gathering ideas and enthusiasm.

i now you all like photos so heres a few of mine.

I first striped the deck and serviced the main components as per guides. Also sent the arm to audio origami where j7 sorted out the loose bearings(superb service)

eventually got my motor to run silently using the ball bearing tweak and centering the coils

new oilites and gear oil in the bearing all sealed with heatshrink

Cleaned and lubed idler bearing. spins real smooth and no play at all.

Made a locking idler carriage as i only use 33rpm

Cut down the top plate and made a jig for plinth cutout

made a new arm que support as the old plastic one was cracking

power panel for the back

Had a mock set up on an old bit of kitchen worktop

Cut up the wood for the plinth.

Thats about all for now chaps hope to find some more time soon.  azn

Hi Martin,
That's looking very good indeed - what a brilliant start, well more than a start, progress  smiley
Great workmanship!

Cheers,
Steve.

Great work Martin.  Great attention to detail on all the mechanical aspects.  All you need is a little wood working, and you'll have piece of art.  ropies_thumbsup

Good morning all.

Praise indeed, thanks.

Quick question regarding the top plate finish.
Was going to leave the bit that shows bare metal with a clear coat. Would silver paint be a better option, a little worried about it corroding underneath lacquer.

cheers,
martin

should be ok if you you don't use water based laquer
I did stuff like that with a 2k clear coat in a spray can, it worked great (still does after 15+ years)

Yes, 2K is shorthand for the  (relatively) new 2 component spray can system. Typically a button on the can is pushed to break a seal and release the hardener into the laquer, the can is shaken and then used as a normal spray can. Obviously, once the hardener is released the clock is ticking....

Available everywhere - even in Spain wink

what Steve said.

The stuff he linked to is the one I use. But you can also find the 500ml cans for one or two Euros more in the same bay....
Better deal but it depends how much you wanna spray.
And yes, once mixed the spray is good for only 24hours. Thats the biggest downside.

On the pro side: its very hard so it can be polished for shine and it is oil, fuel and alcohol proof
So whatever liquid spills it just wipes off

Go Martin, go!     You're getting to be quite a pro at this, all the service work isn't too tough once you do it and understand it.  Especially from the sound if the effort you put into the motor.   Good show.

The ironic part is that now it won't be needed again for decades!
