Ahh... now we're getting there. I can clearly see a loudspeaker cone. It may be covered in silver digital beetle poo though - maybe the winter's work is to remove the alien beetle poo? I've a feeling that I've somehow got this wrong and there's a much more serious and technical explanation.

That's an elegant design. I love the dimple concept when used appropriately. It should break up standing waves at the throat, altering the polar response. Sometimes modeled to reduce resonance as well. At leas that's how a few white papers have suggested they act.

Oh sure, they can be made of beetle poo. I've also seen them made from whale spunk. I suppose there could be some snake oil mixed in somewhere for good measure. No, but from what I've read (not directly compared or heard) they have validity.
