What I like about many builds here is that people do have their plans to build their dream tables and they follow them up to the end.
In my case because of lack of time (and sometimes funds too) I postpone many mods I would like to apply to my beloved Lenco.
Here is the one i finally started

I always wanted to have a good quality wooden arm boards preferably in red.
So my search led me to purpleheart wood, which has I suppose enough density to absorb any vibration.

Two pieces arrived in late summer from States and now two arm boards cut out of them.
Still a lot of work to do before installing them into the plinth (holes for bolts, threaded inserts into the plinth, wood polish against UV) and mounting arms.

best,

Nice work Andrey. I know what you mean about postponing stuff...

I don't recognise the arm. Looks nice. Grace?

just for your info, density is no indicator of damping, in fact, quite the opposite. Metals can be very dense, but have the least damping. And vibrations are not absorbed, the energy is either converted to heat, or enables other things to vibrate.

Thank you for clarification, Bryan.

I’ve started making armboards because I got a new arm to install.
As I wanted it with wooden headshell, together with purpleheart wood two ebony blanks arrived.

Here are some (saying frankly - many) pictures.
And one recent discovery for me:
Since my childhood I couldn’t understand the reason of a white pencil’s presence among the coloured ones.  undecided
Now I got it – to make drawings at black ebony wood   grin

Thank you, Piero  smiley
I do not think there will be dramatic changes in sound, but it definitely looks good with black arm
And i managed to get 4 similar pen clips of good quality steel. So finger grips are identical

Alexander, thank you!

Very nice, Andrey. Did you make the fingerlifts yourself?

Thank you, Pavel
yes, got four identical German pens with nice grips,
then drilled a tiny hole in it (it was a hard work as steel is a good quality, lost few drill bits), slightly bent and screwed it to the wood.

good work, Andrey, it's not easy to make head shells that have the essential right angle at the back. Even though they will be a little better that metal ones, ebony is still a poor wood when it comes to acoustic properties.

If the head shells work well, much kudos to you.  wink

Bryan, what's the better?  smiley

Here are some more pics to finish my report about the latest mods of my Lenco.

Threaded inserts were placed in drilled holes

by audiophiles’ tools.

Decapitated sharp tipped bolts were screwed into threaded inserts to mark the holes positions for arm board bolts.

I placed rubber grommets under the board not to reduce/absorb/annihilate vibrations  lipsrsealed but just to have a way to level wink the board with tonearm.

And the final result (up to now). There will be other changes in it but much later.
