Some great stuff and listening spaces in this thread!

Have a pair of Tannoy 615's over here. Not the most ideal of listening spaces, but considering that this is my work from home spot, it gives me many hours of listening enjoyment. Hope to swap out that Garrard for something else soon, the Tannoys aren't going anywhere.

How are you liking the Fanes Kari (12-250TC's right)? Was already planning to try them one day.

Yes, Sovereign 12-250TC. I like them quite a lot, especially now with the subwoofer. The sound has ”air” in it, hard to explain, but the easiness of the sound was just the thing I was after. Surprisingly good top end too. The bottom end , while not most powerful, is clear and not at all boomy. Clear and well defined mid-range is the thing with these, I guess that’s what brings the ”air”. The Fanes really shine on vocals, especially female.

For rock and pop music I think a subwoofer is nice to have. I was happy without one, but once I built the sub and got it dialed in, I would not let it go. Acoustic and jazz is fine without a subwoofer. Classical music with big orchestras might be a bit challenging to the Fanes as it is with most sound systems, but string quartets and such sound very nice, as does solo piano.

Yes, excellent especially with your quad 303 power amp (regarding the old 33 pre, well, it’s been discussed).

Cheers!

Just listening to these Tannoys, may replace the B&Ws.  No model name on them, anyone know what they are?  Tia.

Some absolutely astonishing speakers on this thread  shocked

My pair of Altec 9842-8As. Would love some VOTT but Altecs can be hard to find here in the UK and these are probably also about the biggest speakers I can accommodate in our living room if I plan to stay married  laugh

They ain't pretty but they sound nice. Plus you can put loads of crap on top of them.... grills are to cat proof them after one driver got shredded less than a fortnight after they arrived.
