Cassette is your new must have fashionable accessory.  See http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/search.jsp?q=cassette#/  I have no connection with this shop, but I just find it interesting that cassette is making a come back.

In terms of format proportions and ergonomics, I think the cassette format is by far the best.  I can see why the kids would still like them.

I was cleaning out some stuff last week, and threw out some used, snarled "fashionable accessories."

I love Minidisk. Such a fantastic format - physical, yet one can rename and edit on the fly in a tiny box with great battery life. And use all number of sources! My HiMD seems to have broken after years of rough service however, (10 years, and twice run over) and I can't find anyone who does repairs.

Cassette was perhaps before my time as a cool thing, although I still use them regularly for audiobooks.

I used to trade tapes through the post as a teenager (punk, hardcore, death metal, indie etc bootlegs) and ended up with hundreds by the time I went to Uni - enough to cover a whole bedroom wall.

Later I bought lots of rave tapes in Camden Market and made tapes of pirate radio stations like Pulse FM - I wish I still had some of those!

So I'm kind of nostalgic for tapes  grin

I revived cassette two years ago when I took my technics RS 275 direct drive top load to Scalford, attracted quite a bit of attention. Suddenly there is mass interest.

Absolutely! Can't detect any difference (in spite of compression) between MiniDisc and CD

Yes, it's worth remembering that reports of the death of music have perhaps been greatly exaggerated.

I was giving away my and my dad's tape decks last year and sold two more on ebay. Looks like I do not qualify for a hipster.
