How to define what source of a sound it was used for record on a magnetic tape?

Good question! I thought the master tape market was fairly well empty as in serious collectors bidding even before the sale decision fell.

I had the pleasure of a 1st 1/4“ copy from 3“ Master tape from Boney M‘s Daddy Cool take. Playback was a Ferrograph iirc.  angel

‚Best‘ sound ever...

Cheers!

In most cases, save for few, the closest you can get to a master tape mortals can buy is to buy one of the 15 IPS, half track Stereo Audiophile Productions or Tape Project using IEC EQ. Which will be 3rd generation. Expensive. but the main way you can get somewhat famous material.

Because they offer what the high end audiophile buyer will buy, and what record labels will license them to release. Bear this in mind, these tapes are very expensive, real time dubbed.

Unfortunately, I haven't received the answer how 100% distinguish a true master tape and fake?

Nice! Are these yours or are you thinking of buying?
No way to tell I think, pretty sure even CD files can be faked to look like higher-res.
Once you hide the cut-off I would assume all bets are off.
