It would be so easy for me to eulogise about SLaP and PraM and how it sounds like I’m sat on John Coltrane’s knee now.  But I honestly don’t know but maybe yes a little bit.   I can say, in the round,  it all sounds good to me.  I can also say that there was a time when I thought my unmodded 78 sounded better but not now.

I just imagined I heard something I hadn’t heard before.     cheesy   But probably not.   Who knows.

It’s nice knowing my TT is all tight and well engineered.

I have fish tank in the room, a poor listening position and cloth ears but in that context I’m very happy right now.

That's what really matters man, you're happy. I suspect you'll start to notice the upgrade as you listen more.

I think you’re right Billy.   It’s the ‘oooh what was that’ moment. Just a little bit more of everything generally, maybe.   I need to set up the TA again as well.

Excellent upgrade path Kno, your system has really progressed, so much so the cloth ears aren't a factor anymore  :wink:and  regardless whether you work in kitchen or on the beach you've been successful at pulling more and more from your deck. I remember those "sweating it out" days of questioning all I was doing, I think we were in the same dingy....where are the oars!

Give the bearing the support.  grin
With such a thin top plate as lenco has the support from underneath is essential to hear any improvements delivered with a good bearing

It’s a good feeling.   Investing time and a bit of money.   There’s  a bit of risk.  Even if you enjoy the process you don’t want to break something that wasn’t broken or go backwards.

There’s always you and everyone else to encourage and troubleshoot if it goes badly.

It’s a good point, there’s even more weight hanging off the top plate now.  I have 8 cm of space under the top plate which could be 8 cm of plywood with the bottom layer including an 8mm hole for the bearing bolt, alternatively maybe a metal strap / plate screwed to the new bottom layer.

Have you done something similar Andrey?

Regarding platterbearing support: in this thread is my attempt at it using an adjustable furniture foot in a threaded insert mounted to the bottom of the plinth:

Hi David, i just posted a topic on lenco heaven in which i filled up an original L70 plinth with birch ply and also routed an alloy bracket in the bottom of it to support the (original) platter bearring.
But offcourse it is very simple to modify it so that it fits your bearing because yours has an inner thread.

Maybe this gives you some ideas wink

My speaker journey - money - risk - went backwards.

Maybe trying to hear changes arising from your upgrades has led you to listen to the music more intently.  I know I hear a lot more on the rare occasions that I just sit and listen without the distraction of an oblong thing (phone, iPad, laptop or even a book).  Either way, it's great that you've developed a set-up that lets you enjoy your music  grin

Well if I get half as good a finish as you I will be happy.
