On seventh thought, that headshell looks so badly out of whack that you may be wasting your time.

On my former Lenco it was the headshell collar that was out of whack.

I resorted to violence. I grabbed the headshell front and back and twisted. That, and tightening the rearmost settingscrew on the column First and the Other  one second, actually resulterade in this position of the headshell when seated on a record. Still skates just as bad, though, when it grips the groves. Will buy new PU and try.

Some points regarding levelling.

Those small bubble levels can be unreliable.

Always check level of record playing surface.

My method is to level at playing surface where stylus tracks, then eyeball the armtube relative to the record surface and check azimuth with a gauge (although I find I can eyeball this pretty accurately as well).

Have you tried loosening the tonearm at the pillar so you can slide the wires up and down and ensure no snags etc.   The earth wire was a cheeky monkey in my case.

Thanks,

Think I will buy one oft these small round bubble level. Ought to be more reliable than this one....

I have checked the cables. If they were the problem the arm would strive inwards even when in the air, would it not? Now it slowly drifts outwards, so I fail to see the connection.

Will search for new PU.

Unlikely thast the level is the problem, since

Just ordered an Audio Technica VM520EB, since it is possible to mount the ordinary way in the sledge, instead of how the 95 is (at least that is how I have understood it) Hope for the best!

I chose the above since it was supposed to be much better than the conical version, and have a nice color that matches the Lenco colors  cheesy

There  are so many recommendations / ideas on the subject that I just went with the one most commonly advocated.......

My tone arm swung in when lowered and out when lifted.  I had a notion it was tension on the tone arm wires released / tightened causing a wind/unwind action as the arm went up and down.

Hi,

I actually noted similar behavior. My arm hangs still when lowered and drifts outwards when lifted. Still nothing that would explain the drifting when seated in the grooves. I will try now with a new PU. If that does not work I will seriously consider buying a new arm sad

when assembling the tonarm again. Just pushed them in a bundle and fixed it with blue tac.

/Håkan

The three wires are supposed to hang down in the tonearm Piller separately. The turn of wires on both sides should not be abrupt. They should not be stuck anywhere with any sort of adhesive.

Regards,

Thanks, but I have not put the wires in any bent or stretched way coming out of the arm-pillar. They make a nice soft u-turn going up to where the terminals are (to my eyes at least...). It is only the surplus wire that is fastened with bluetac. If not done so, the wires would be lying on the shelf under the plinth. Picture can be seen in my building thread "lenco has landed".
I was afraid that would be worse.

Would it be possible to remove the blutac and try without it just to rule it out maybe? Looks on the pictures as if it can be stretching the wires a bit. But it is hard to see from that angle.

I have to repeat Stratocaster83: Is the tiny diamond chip still on the stylus?  Not the shank which often is clear, hard plastic...the tiny tip.  You usually can not tell with the naked eye, sometimes not even with a handheld magnifier, it can be THAT small.  If it has come unglued, all the futzing you can do won't fix the problem.

Hi, I have actually pulled the wires down after the picture was taken, to ensure no dragging.

I´m now assuming it must be the needle, as You say, lacking tip or generally being weak. Having great hopes for the new PU that is on its way.

Good thing I have another TT (Audio Note) to play with until then. Listening to AC/DC, For those about to rock right now!
