Currently using an early genuine EAR834P modded with Beyer SUT.
Very happy with it and don't expect to change.
But then came across the Douk Clone EAR834P and bought it out of curiosity.
So while plenty seems to be on forums about the original 834p and clones, there seems to be very little factual apparent information.

Pictures are of original with clone.
First is the size of the clone is significantly larger. and the circuit appears quite different at the front end. There are comments on forums re: the Array/ladder of resistors and the two transistors by V1 as can only be compared to original circuit diagram available on the net
I have searched around a bit and it is apparent EAR modified the 834p through its life and certainly around 2004 the transistors and resistor array were fitted. Pictures of genuine EAR834p for sale. Made 2007 onwards that clearly show the Resistor array/ladder and transistors as per the clone. I have concluded the DOUK is in fact a like for like clone of a Late version 834p.
The only circuit diagram is of an early ear834p and very little information is around about the later one with revision modifications.
Pics of my two units.
A quick comparison indicate the original still sounds better by a very small margin. Sounds athough the riaa response is a bit off?

It is always interesting. DIY versions are extremally pumped by audio-air (woo-doo, etc)  (supercaps, sup-resistors, super cables, super screws, super tin, I am waiting for low noise SUPER AUDIO LED, Super plugs (specially those 230 V)  etc) vs original designs being compromised cost vs quality and working perfectly. NO complains just common observation. My Douk will be a bit pumped as well. wink  Already invested for some better parts. Audio hobby is expensive but if successfull is giving a lot of satisfaction and pride. I did it and still did not exploded.
