Adelmo

Have been using 'hook' bearing a few days now. I have got larger (metal) bearings.....1.5mm bore instead of 1mm. I could hardly work with the 1mm it was so small. The 1.5mm is more manageable. At the moment, I have adapted the existing post which uses a 4mm brass rod as the hook. I am going to redesign the post to take a 5mm rod so I can easily use the larger bearing.

A few other changes I want to make. Getting rid of the twist in the hoists has been a liberating experience, especially with UH. I figure I no longer need to use string for the hoists......am going to try metal jewelry braid. Your idea with the carbon blade is good too. Once the hook bearing is operational, can rethink the whole string hoist business which I feel is the weakest part of the SUPA design.

Keep the ideas coming. AFAIAC, the hook bearing is the way to go. Not going back to the twisted strings........

Cheers

Vic

Hi Vic,

Today cleaning my desk I found the old piece of carbon fibre I used for my Supatrac. Thickness I used was 0.2mm, but as stated already I failed for bearing design reason. I shall try it again later on making a better a more even shape of the blade.

Its a neat idea, but I dont think I would implement. The mods I have done using 1.5mm bearing + eyelet + steel crimped cables is working perfectly. I am now in a place where I can no longer think of any way to improve my UH arm, so I think I will just relax & enjoy it  wink

Happy to assist you if you need any bits made!

Cheers

Hi VIC,

Not shipped yet. Anyhow Amazon did not have the same ceramic bearing so I had no choice.

I can wait as I am using the Lenco TT.

Hi Vic,

Appreciate your support, but too complex now to receive things from UK. I suppose by now shall be the same timing as Aliexpress. If I need more of these bearings in future I will consider your offer.
