TBH I can't hear differences easily, I hear the dynamics my version of the supa brings to it, but UH or offset, top swivel or string all sound much the same to me.  Just my rolled off cloth ears.  I like the design side and building stuff, and I'm grateful to the people on here for making it interesting hobby. I get more out of music when I build stuff.

I don't hear any difference between bearing, string or cable. The main advantage is to eliminate the torsional effect the hoists have on skating forces.

I do hear a difference with the UH version of the Supa....another boost in dynamics...the main reason my bothering with the implementation.

I could not have said it better Martin.
I have gained so much throughout the last 20 ish years from the diy audio experience that actually started here at Lenco Heaven when this site was started after the melt down of Lenco Lovers.
I have little interest in commercial hifi products any more and get great satisfaction from learning and from making my own.

And the sound of what we're building here can compete with the best there is, which at least I could never afford to buy new... grin

With best regards

Yes and it turned into a giant mess of arguing over Welch slate and something else...
I came home from a four day race weekend and the site was down.
Later that day I got an email that Lenco Heaven was being created and would I like to join.smiley

...so if Richard
has a design that works, and sells to the mass market, why change
it? Why try the apex bearing? Why try UH configuration?

Ah. You got me. For the same reason men climb Everest. You know that I will not be able to resist finding out.
