I still had a B51 laying around that i wanted to use for playing 78 rpm records and last week it was the time to give it a tune up, so i clean it, relube the motor etc. replaced the plastic idler wheel for a metal one and solder some new headshell leads in the headshell.

And since the Lenco had a very bad looking non original plinth, it came to my mind that i still had some oak closet shelves laying around and i made a new heavy plinth from it with the rca and power connector on the back.

I put some audio feet under it that i had laying around for years and i like the looks of it!

Now i am still thinking what kind of finish i will give the plinth  undecided

Ooh i almost forgot, if someone has laying around a headshell for a B51 that he is not using and want to sell, please let me know.

Thanks Adrian, Normally i am not an oak fan but this oak wood came from the shelves from a cabinet that stood in my grandfathers room who past away 1.5 years ago.
So this plinth is a bit special to me!

That is a stylish plinth and it’s great to have a link to your grandfather in a hobby that you enjoy.  I’m not sure it needs much in the way of a finish - the natural colour looks lovely to me.  Fine sand and clear wax ?

Dennis.   Is there a Mrs Dennis and has she passed judgement or cleared a space?

Hello David, yes there is a misses and she liked it very much but she always likes everything i am building or have build  angel, i am very lucky with her.
I think the reason you mentioned was "has she cleared a space for it" is because i build it from the shelves from her fathers closet, but no she hasn't, we have some other things that remembers us to her parents which are in our livingroom.

The first year of Corona i build myself an extra room on top of our livingroom extension for my audio hobby because the hobby was growing and i didn't have space enough for the audio and actually i was also a little bored because during the corona we couldn't go on a holiday and since i am a person who always wants to have something to do  Roll Eyes i started building  grin

The B51 is now standing in this room, and sometimes playing 78's wink
