Got this off eBay....

It wasn't very well packed and one of the valves had been shaken out of its socket. Luckily it wasn't broken.

The unit was absolutely filthy inside and out and I thought I'd bought a lemon but it all cleaned up nicely and it seems to work very well.

The sound is very good but it is very sensitive to the aerial though, is this normal?

There's a Quad service sticker on the unit so I guess it must have been well looked after at one time.

I have had one for 25 years and it works fine, still using it. I use a TV ariel in the roof but it worked on rabbit ears OK.  I had it aligned, what ever that means.  I guess there is lots to go out of alignment, ancient caps and Rs, but I don't think they replaced anything.   I had the OneThing FM stereo board installed too.

I replaced some tubes but I forget now.  You should definitely test the valves.

Nice tuner, yours looks in good condition.

Nice find!  I love the design of Quad gear!  It's a beauty!   smiley

But, it could probably benefit from a service.
