Has a GL78 deck fitted and working perfectly.
But I'd like to understand the function of the NORM-SYNTH switch on the rear.
Any ideas, please?

Hi,

The SYNTH setting puts the speakers into peudo 4 channel operation, speaker set B become the rear speakers.  Probably a variation on the Hafler connection many used in the early 70s, to simulate Quadrophonic sound, by sending out of phase info to the rear speakers.  HTH.
