I am opening this topic related to how I am updating the cd-players with TDA1541(A):
 - no-oversampling mode
 - update  the DAC capacitors
 - update the power supply capacitors
 - tube output instead op-amps.

Is not very complicated and the results are above any expectation. Any cheap cd-player with TDA1541(A) can be transformed in a very good player.
Now I am starting the update of Marantz CD-50. A very good player and with enough space inside to add the tube output module.

I will post more pictures and details during the project.

Nice!
You can see my very similar project (a Philips CD620) here: https://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?topic=27442.0 After the mods this thing sounds absolutely awesome, before it was mediocre at best.

Philips CD620 is perfect for this update because is enough space inside to put the tube output stage.

All TDA1541 cd-players can be updated this way. My next project is a Grundig Finearts CD9000.

Vlad I'm happy you've started this.

I'm very interested in the tube output stage. I've modded a Philips CD753 as far as I can and the tube output is the next step.

I know the DAC is different. I've been looking at a Lampizator circuit but it's hand drawn and I'm not 100 percent confident in my reading of the schematic.

If you already have a tube preamp you may not need a built in tube gain stage. I tapped off the TDA1541 chip to a 20 Ohm load R  (called I/V) and then to the RCA connector.  This is a Kinergetics KCD20 CD player I got in the 80s I modified.  I kept the original outputs.  The level is OK for normal listening but a bit low.

I then had a go with a Sony 337ESD player with dual TDA1541. The transport was down so I wired in an Amanero usb card and use it as a DAC.  I  used a Sennheiser mic SUT on the output to increase the level. I wondered if it would saturate as there is some DC from the chip but it sounds great.

I have a feeling I posted this before...going senile.. anyway I hope it encourages people to have a go, you just need the TDA1541 schematic.   On a working CD player it can be easy.  Still will be oversampling, but NOS is a different thing.  Really all you are doing is replacing the original ss preamp with a tube.

Is true. The simple replacement of the op-amp output stage with a tube output stage will bring huge improvement in sound.
I am thinking to prepare a kit to be easily installed by any DIYer. The procedure is very easy in terms of connect the tube output.

Most of the players with TDA1541 are still at a very low cost (under 100 euro) and with a very small budget you can obtain very good results results.

Excelent player for this mod.
A lot of space inside.

This is how it looks the kit used for the Marantz CD50.

Very easy to install and connect.

Would this work for a Marantz cd5000?

Would it be possible to explain what kind of improvement in sound one might expect from such a modification?

I don't think is working.

Look for a TDA1541 cheap player.
