As to the hum, I’ve just played the last movement of Deryck Cooke’s completion of Mahler’s tenth at a level I found satisfying and maybe a little daunting, the hum at the end wasn’t intrusive from my usual listening position at that level, I could hear it well enough as I approached a speaker. I still have the donor deck so my next build might use the original top plate to see if it gives a little more shielding.
